Maine State Police Trooper Shawn Porter said George Grotten, 73, of Montville, was behind the wheel of his 1990 GMC truck around 2:50 p.m. Saturday when he pulled onto Route 3.
Grotten was entering the highway near the 10-4 Diner. When Grotten pulled out, he reportedly drove into the path of an Irving oil tanker truck.
The Irving vehicle, a 2005 Freightliner, was driven by Francis Paradis, 65, of Northport. Paradis was traveling east, Porter said, while it appeared Grotten was going to be heading west.
Porter said emergency personnel believed Grotten sustained a broken arm and other injuries and Paradis had a broken hip. Porter said the LifeFlight helicopter was called, but could not respond because of weather conditions.

Same Sex Marriage: Adam & Eve? or Adam & Steve

1 and 2 think that there should be same sex marriage because it should be people that make there own choice who they marry or love. Its how they feel about someone because its there choice like guy & guy, girl & girl or guy & girl. Its the way they think about each other. Its there life, they can do what they want with it.

Death Penalty Keep It or Kill It

1 and 2 think we should kill it because I isn't right to kill a person just because they did something. But also would kind of right if the person was a cereal murder or Rapped and killed the person. But I think it would be better if they had to stay in jail to they die so they can think about what they did or some times they get killed by inmate.

Most tagging stations are reporting lower-than-average numbers of whitetails, but often the deer that are being taken are good-sized; including many trophy bucks.
Although it’s too early in the season to predict a final harvest count, most of the state’s deer biologists believe that last winter’s deep snows and cold temperatures will keep this year’s success rate down, especially in Northern and Eastern Maine, and in the western mountains. If weather conditions over the final weeks of the season remain favorable, Midcoast hunters should — according to the experts — have an average season.

She was 86.

At a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, Monday night, the Illinois senator said "she has gone home and she died peacefully in her sleep with my sister at her side."

"I'm not going to talk about it long because it's hard to talk about," he added.

Obama remembered her as "one of those quiet heroes we have across America, who aren't famous ... but each and every day they work hard. They look after their families. They look after their children and their grandchildren."

In a statement released Monday afternoon, Obama and his sister said that Dunham was "the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility."

An 8-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the head while firing an Uzi submachine gun under adult supervision at a gun fair.

The boy lost control of the weapon while firing it Sunday at the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo at the Westfield Sportsman's Club, police Lt. Lawrence Vallierpratte said.

Police said the boy, Christopher Bizilj (Bah-SEAL) of Ashford, Conn., was with a certified instructor and called the death a "self-inflicted accidental shooting."

As the boy fired the Uzi, "the front end of the weapon went up with the backfire and he ended up receiving a round in his head," police Lt. Hipolito Nunez said. The boy died at a hospital.

The boy's father and older brother were also there at the time, a gun club member and school official said. Francis Mitchell, a longtime member and trustee of the club, said he was told the boy's father was supporting his son from behind when the shooting happened.

After evading police for more than a week, Randall Hofland was arrested Friday morning, Oct. 31, after he allegedly held 11 children hostage at gunpoint in a classroom at Stockton Springs Elementary School.Maine State Police Lt. Gerard Madden said Hofland was armed with a loaded, semi-automatic handgun, but that there were no shots fired and that none of the children were physically injured. State officials in Augusta described the gun as a 10 millimeter-caliber Glock handgun.
Hofland, though, went into a fifth-grade classroom where there were initially 11 students. Hofland released two of the students, Madden said, and the remaining nine students were in the room with him when the first police officers arrived.
Madden said the school has a lockdown plan that went into effect immediately. All students were locked in their respective classrooms and remained there until police officers arrived on scene.
